Tottenham target 3 strikers – report
Jermaine Defoe’s torn muscle has left Tottenham with serious shortages in the striking department.
Having suggested, on several occasions, that he won’t be adding to his squad in the winter window it now appears as if Defoe’s injury is such that a new striker is a must in this window.
The Guardian states that Tottenham have targeted three front men in a mission to get one of them in before Thursday midnight.
They are on form Celtic front man Gary Hooper, Real Madrid’s out of favour Jose Callejon and Alvaro Negredo of Sevilla. Internacional striker Leandro Damiao has also been on AVB’s shortlist for a long time but he may be regarded as too expensive for Spurs’ current budget at around £15-20m.
“We’ve found consistency in 4-4-2 so eventually we have the possibility to have one more,”….. “It’s just trying to see if it makes sense. The January market is very demanding. Transfer fees can be ridiculously high.” Said AVB
Although these forwards don’t necessarily have the ‘dimension’ and profile that AVB is after, he now realises the need for immediate additions at Tottenham this January.
