Tottenham in for £25m winger – report
Porto star James Rodriguez has been linked with a big money move to Manchester United for a couple of years now, but a transfer has never quite materialised. Despite kicking on again since his move from Banfield to Porto in 2010, Manchester United haven’t firmed up their reported interest in the 21 year old Columbian with an official bid. Consequently, other clubs are now interested in taking the forward, who has scored 22 times in just 51 games as a wide player for his current club.
The Daily Express has claimed that Tottenham boss AVB is now interested in the star of his former club, who is known as ‘El Bandido’. The Tottenham coach may use his links with Porto to jump to the front of the queue for the flexible forward. Despite his tender years, Rodriguez already looks close to the finished article and Tottenham would reportedly have to pay up to £25m to land the player.
Unless Gareth Bale leaves Tottenham, it’s hard to see where Rodriguez would fit into the starting XI but you can’t have too many good players in your squad, as serial winners Manchester United have proved over the years.
It does seem likely that a move is on the cards for the fleet-footed Rodriguez, who may soon outgrow the Portuguese league. But his precise destination remains unclear.
