Manchester United in midfielder link

The ever more speculative Daily Mail has suggested that Manchester United are interested in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender. The 23 year old, who has recently broken into the German national team, has risen to prominence in the Bundesliga in the last year and offers sturdy if unspectacular service in the middle of the park.
He doesn’t score many goals but he already looks like the model of German efficiency and like another Bundesliga recruit, Owen Hargreaves, Bender can also fill in at right back.
Whether Manchester United would be prioritising holding midfielders right now, with Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick and Cleverley all able to do a job there, is highly debatable but we thought that we would tell you about it anyway so that if it does, by some miracle, happen we can be all self-satisfied about how we first broke the story months ago……
So, Manchester United fans. Do you need another such central midfielder?
