Imminent Future Under Scrutiny From The Gaffer
by Thomas B.
An understandably frustrated Neil Warnock offered little hope towards a promotion push in his Leeds United press conference as concerns over the club’s ‘imminent’ future continue.
Neil Warnock will have to prepare his depleted squad well, as the team head for the New Den on Sunday. Leeds United are languishing in 17th place in the Npower Championship, and are in need of three points.
Mr. Warnock often portrays an upbeat demeanor in his press conferences, but as questions continue to surface about the proposed takeover from equity firm GFH Capital, the 63-year-old painted a bleak picture at Leeds United.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Warnock said ‘It’s extremely difficult to get anything done, or get any answers. I am basically very much like a supporter really, I know a little bit more, you know – we are all frustrated really’
It was a collection of words that are helping to paint a picture of a bespoke nightmare at a club that has fallen from grace like no other. When even ‘the gaffer’ sounds fed up, you begin to wonder what direction the club is going in.
With the emergency loan window fast approaching its own deadline, it is looking less likely that Warnock will be able to bolster his abject and injury hit squad. Having missed out on Cameron Jerome just last week, things show no sign in improving at Elland Road.
This is further shown in the sorry excuse for a statement that Leeds United released just yesterday. It stated that GFH Capital were in a exclusive period in regards to purchasing the club, and that it was being sanctioned by the Football League. It offered little assurance to the Leeds United faithful.
I begin to wonder what direction Leeds United will be going, if GFH Capital are able to take over at Elland Road. If ticket prices drop and funds are made available to improve not only the team, but the squad, then I will be a happy Leeds United fan.
