Have your say on Brendan’s signings
So, what do you think of Brendan Rodger’s signings for Liverpool so far? Is he making super investments in his squad for the future or frittering the money away on second rate donkeys? Let’s have a look shall we?
Nuri Sahin – Hardly worth a mention. The fans got excited about his arrival but he looked off the pace and has since left Liverpool.
Oussama Assaidi – a winger who needs to come back to me in a year for a proper appraisal.
Samed Yesil – Ditto. Score some goals and then we can talk.
Joe Allen - He’s been fairly solid if fairly unspectacular and, at £15m, that’s perhaps not enough. He seems to divide opinion in the same way as a Henderson or Carrick does. Perhaps his value to Liverpool is better counted in the long term. Could become Liverpool’s metronome in a few years.
Daniel Sturridge - I have to say that I wasn’t sure about him at £12m but he’s been a breathe of fresh air at Liverpool. He has added energy, mobility and teeth to the Liverpool front line and has struck up a fine partnership with Luis Suarez, who clearly likes playing with the young Englishman. Overall, an excellent signing so far.
Fabio Borini - Borini hasn’t had the best of luck, having suffered 2 big injuries in his first season at Liverpool (the second of which, the dislocated shoulder, could keep him out for the rest of the season). But when he has played he’s looked pretty ordinary. When Sturridge came in he immediately made Liverpool look more dangerous. But Borini didn’t. If anything, he made Liverpool look less like scoring. But, at £10.5m, Rodgers clearly felt this guy was special and perhaps he just needs some time.
Phillipe Coutinho - needs more time but he has looked sharp during his few minutes on the pitch and has his name on the scoresheet already. Could be a big buy. His brazilain countryman and team mate Lucas Leiva had this to say about the young star.
“It will take him time to settle but a goal will give him confidence and we could see there were positive things from him.
“Hopefully he will be a great player for now and for the future as well as he is only 20.”
So what do you Liverpool fans think? Is Brendan buying well or are his poor signings being masked by the good form of King Kenny’s buys?
