Chelsea re-ignite massive striker deal – report

Chelsea impressed many with their comeback against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, but they will waste no time adding to their squad in the summer. Radamel Falcao’s name has been mentioned in the same breath as Chelsea for as long as we can remember. The player himself seemed keen on a move to Stamford Bridge before expressing the desire to stay at Atletico Madrid earlier this season.

The Daily Mail reports that a deal for the colombian hit man will be re-ignited in the summer and that it will take as much as £43 million to prize the prodigy away from the Spanish club. With 45 goals in 57 games for Atletico and 41 in 51 during his brief spell in Porto, it’s easy to see why the striker will fetch such a price, even in a slightly depressed transfer market. He’s one of those players that almost guarantees you goals at any level. But we also said that about Shevchenko and Torres didn’t we?

Anyway, at 27, the time seems right for Falcao to make his big career move. Chelsea won’t rely on Demba Ba or the coltish brilliance of the on loan Romelu Lukaku next season. Fernando Torres seems destined for a transfer and may even be used at part of the deal, to take him back to the club where it all started for him.

Any transfer won’t come easily to Chelsea as other top clubs have been circling this player for a long time. It could turn out to be a genuine bidding war between teams like Manchester City, PSG and The Blues – all of whom seem keen on striking re-inforcements.
